What Is “Family Frights”?

Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween? Enter Family Frights at Jamestown Settlement — a Halloween‑themed museum night designed especially for kids and families. It’s spooky, festive, and not too scary.

In 2025, it’s back for two nights: October 24 & 25, from 6 to 9 PM.

What to Expect

When you step into the event, you'll get a full sensory experience:

  • Trick‑or‑treating stations across the grounds

  • Crafts & games to keep kids engaged and creative

  • Face painting

  • Costumed characters roaming the ships and pathways

  • Enchanted pathways with fairies, mythical creatures, and spooky surprises

  • Soundscapes, smoke, lanterns, creative lighting, and storytelling elements to enhance the atmosphere

  • A bit of performance and historical flair blended in to keep it interesting for all ages

It’s Halloween meets museum magic — you get to explore historic structures, ships, and outdoor areas under ambient lighting and thematic touches.
