Oceans & Ale Sets Sail for Monticello Marketplace
A Bigger Home for a Local Favorite
After packing the Williamsburg Premium Outlets for more than a decade, Oceans & Ale has officially reopened at 4700 Monticello Avenue inside Monticello Marketplace. The grand-opening stretch runs all month long, but you can already grab dinner from 4 p.m. every day—and yes, the bar still boasts a deep craft-beer roster.
Why the Move?
Co-owners Jeff and Angie Tanner told reporters they’d simply outgrown their old footprint. The Monticello Marketplace building—formerly Ruby Tuesday—offers a larger kitchen, more parking, and space for future menu expansions (think seasonal oyster specials and weekend brunch). More seats mean shorter waits on summer Saturdays, while a bigger tap system lets the team rotate even more Virginia-made brews.
What Stays the Same
- Signature plates: Fish-and-chips, fried shrimp po’boys, and the crowd-pleasing crab dip all made the move.
- Local taps: Expect a steady lineup from The Virginia Beer Co., Billsburg, and other coastal breweries.
- Laid-back vibe: Televised sports, friendly servers, and that “come-as-you-are” energy Williamsburg regulars love.
Perks for Monticello Neighbors
- Walkability: The new site sits beside Food Lion and Sal’s, so dinner-and-errands pair up nicely.
- Expanded parking: No circling the Outlets parking loop just to snag a space.
- Lunch plans: Management says midday hours will launch later this summer once the team settles in.
Final Take
From extra taps to extra elbow room, Oceans & Ale’s relocation is a win for seafood fans and craft-beer seekers alike. Planning to live closer to Williamsburg’s ever-evolving food scene? Let’s find you a home that puts all these flavors right down the street.
