Shuck Yeah—Williamsburg’s Oyster Roast Is Back!

by Jackie Berberabe

Few things say “Williamsburg fall” like oysters on the half shell and live music under the oaks. The sixth annual CDR Oyster Roast is happening Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 3 to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg—and if you’ve never been, this is the year to go.

This annual tradition, sponsored by The Optimal Service Group, raises money for Child Development Resources (CDR), a local nonprofit that supports young children and families across the community. What started as a cozy local fundraiser has become one of Williamsburg’s most anticipated autumn events—part Southern cookout, part coastal seafood fest, and one hundred percent good vibes.

You’ll find plenty of freshly harvested oysters from local farmers—both raw and roasted—along with all the Southern classics that make this event a foodie’s dream. We’re talking slow-smoked BBQ, hearty Brunswick stew, and creamy clam chowder. Add in cold beer, crisp wine, and a little live music from Sammy Lee, and you’ve got the perfect fall Sunday.

And if you want to kick things up a notch, this year’s event also includes an optional bourbon tasting. It’s the perfect pairing with smoky BBQ and roasted oysters—basically, Williamsburg autumn in a glass.

The setting doesn’t hurt, either. The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg provide a gorgeous backdrop, and the lawn becomes a sea of laughter, good food, and that unmistakable local charm. Whether you’re there to eat your weight in oysters, tap your toes to live music, or just soak up the October weather, this event is as Williamsburg as it gets.

For those new to the area, CDR (Child Development Resources) is a cornerstone of local community care. They provide early intervention, education, and family support services that help children reach their full potential—especially those with developmental delays or special needs. Every ticket sold goes directly toward those programs, making the Oyster Roast a delicious way to give back.

If you plan to go, bring a chair or blanket, wear your favorite fall flannel, and come hungry. Tickets usually sell quickly, and proceeds directly benefit local families. You can expect a crowd of friendly faces, a little live music dancing, and a whole lot of shucking.

This is more than just another fall festival—it’s a celebration of Williamsburg’s heart: food, community, and giving back. Events like this are why so many people fall in love with life here.

If you’re thinking about making Williamsburg home—or want to find your next place near all this fun—I’d love to help. I’m Jackie Berberabe, your Williamsburg real estate agent and proud military spouse, helping the military community buy and sell homes across Hampton Roads. Whether you’re relocating to Joint Base Langley Eustis, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, or anywhere in between, I’ll help you find the perfect place to call home—preferably one with a backyard big enough for your own oyster roast.
