Yorktown’s Christmas Market Takes Over Main Street for Two Full Days
If you’re the type who likes your holidays loud, festive, and filled with handmade gifts, Yorktown VA is about to spoil you. The Christmas Market on Main is back, and this year it’s stretching across not one but two full days. Saturday December sixth from ten to three. Sunday December seventh from eleven to three. And trust me. This is one of those Historic Triangle events that people plan their December around.
Picture Historic Main Street lined with nearly one hundred vendors. Glass ornaments catching the light. Handmade soaps stacked like candy. Wreaths big enough to make your front porch feel like Colonial Williamsburg’s holiday display. Jewelry. Art. Gifts you actually want to give instead of panic-buying at the last minute. This market is a shopper’s paradise with a very strong “treat yourself” vibe woven in.
Saturday starts with the Town Crier ringing in the event at ten a.m. in full costume because Yorktown loves a moment. Then the Fifes and Drums of York Town take the street. Their sound bouncing off those historic buildings is honestly enough to put you instantly in the holiday mood. And then, the big entrance. Santa arrives riding York County’s first fire truck. The crowd always loses it. He hops off, starts greeting families, and every parent scrambles for their phones. It’s pure hometown magic.
Both days bring food trucks, strolling musicians, kids’ crafts, and those warm roasted chestnuts everyone posts on Instagram. If you’re hungry, Yorktown’s restaurants at Riverwalk Landing are just a short walk away, and they always pack extra seasonal dishes this weekend. Sunday adds a special treat. Cookies with Santa inside the Gallery at York Hall from one to four. Plus, the Gallery is packed with one-of-a-kind art pieces made by local creators. If you want gifts with a Williamsburg VA or Yorktown flair, this is your spot.
The Yorktown Trolley runs starting at eleven on both days, making it super easy to park farther out and ride in without fighting for a Main Street spot. It’s heated, wheelchair accessible, and stops at all the key areas including the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Watermen’s Museum, and the County Administration building. If you've got family visiting for the weekend or you're new here thanks to a military relocation, the trolley is the simplest way to enjoy the whole event stress-free.
Museums also get in on the action. The Custom House and York County Historical Museum are open Saturday with limited hours, while the American Revolution Museum and the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center are open both days. If you need a break from the crowds, duck into a museum and soak up some local history.
What I love about the Christmas Market on Main is how it captures everything people adore about living in the Historic Triangle. It’s festive without being chaotic. Charming without trying too hard. And full of local talent. If you're exploring Williamsburg real estate or checking out neighborhoods in Yorktown VA, spending a day at this market is the perfect snapshot of our community. Friendly people, walkable streets, good food, and events that bring everyone together.
So grab a coat, bring a tote bag, and make a weekend out of it. You’ll leave with gifts, memories, and probably a photo of Santa riding a fire truck.
