Your Guide to the 2026 Yorktown Sounds of Summer Concert Series

by Jackie Berberabe

If you’re moving to Williamsburg VA or the surrounding Yorktown area, you’ll quickly find that Riverwalk Landing is the place to be once the weather warms up. There is something special about the York River at sunset, especially when you add live music and a local crowd into the mix. The "Sounds of Summer" concert series is a staple for locals, and the 2026 season is officially ready to kick off.

What is Sounds of Summer?

This is a free, 14-week outdoor concert series held every Thursday night from late May through August. It’s a true community event where neighbors gather to dance, eat, and enjoy the waterfront. From Beach Music and Motown to R&B and Pop, the genres rotate weekly, ensuring there is something for everyone.

The 2026 Lineup

The county has put together a fantastic list of performers for the year. If you want to plan your Thursday nights, here is who is hitting the stage:

  • May 21: BJ Griffin
  • May 28: The Embers
  • June 4: BrassWind
  • June 11: Wonderland
  • June 18: En'Novation
  • June 25: The Main Event Band
  • July 9: The Gentlemen & Their Lady
  • July 16: Uncle Jesse
  • July 23: Tidewater Drive Band
  • July 30: The Nashville Lights Band
  • August 6: 10 Spot
  • August 13: Slapnation
  • August 20: Band of Oz
  • August 27: The Deloreans

Why This is a "Must-Do" for Locals

When I work with families on a military relocation, I always recommend this series as the perfect way to get a feel for the local culture. It’s laid-back, friendly, and completely family-oriented. There’s a dance floor for those who want to move and plenty of grass for those who just want to lounge.

If you are selling your home in Williamsburg VA, these are the types of community perks you want to highlight to potential buyers. Living in the Greater Williamsburg area isn't just about the houses, it’s about the lifestyle.

Planning Your Visit

Parking in Historic Yorktown can get busy during concert nights. The best move is to utilize the free parking lots at York Hall, the York-Poquoson Courthouse, or the County Administration Building. From there, you can hop on the free Yorktown Trolley, which runs until 9:30 PM.
